“Innovation started when these individuals applied for X_Potential,” added Marcus Roberts, Director of Operations at IoT Tribe. “It’s been an amazing process getting these trailblazers into the room, and we can’t wait to see where they go during their time here.”

X_Potential is ESB’s employee venture programme, connecting talent from across the business, engineering, operations, commercial and corporate roles, to take on that challenge together.

Five new ventures spent their first full week together at Trinity’s Innovation Hub in Dublin, working alongside Tribe and ESB’s ecosystem of mentors, experts and industry partners.

The week opened with a welcome from our Founder and CEO Tanya Suarez and ESB’s Head of Innovation, Derek Hynes, before teams moved straight into pitching their passion to the room and speaking about the venture they are working on for the next 12 weeks. From there, Javier del Cid and Sergio Cueva from BluSpecs pushed teams to sharpen their USP and map the partners, inside and outside ESB, who can help their ideas go further, with Trinity College Dublin showing them how to think like an entrepreneur and Dealroom bringing in the energy market context.

By Thursday, Eamonn Sayers from Innovate Ireland had every team drafting a first commercial model, along with guest speaker, Gráinne Blount, who specialises in energy developing. Friday closed with pitch practice from Dr Becky Sage, mentor matching and a clear plan heading into their next sprint in October.

“We’re proud of our partnership with ESB,” said Tanya Suarez, Founder and CEO of IoT Tribe. “Seeing 26 people show up ready to bring their passion and skills set and be ready to listen to hard truths to get to something worthwhile , says a lot about the talent that ESB is able to attract and nurture. Their commitment is truly inspiring and we’re grateful to be part of it.”
