Retail tech

The retail sector has suffered greatly during the COVID-19 pandemic and its recovery will have a huge impact on local communities up and down the country.

The Retail Tech Accelerator was part of Barnsley Council’s Economic Renewal Action Plan with funding from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. The overall aim of the project was to deliver an accelerator programme focused on retail tech that can attract founders and start-ups with products and services that can underpin a new era of growth for Barnsley’s retailers.

A total of 11 startups went through the programme and four of the startups will be piloting their technology with Barnsley Council, providing data-driven products and services that will help retailers, interact with customers, enhance their offerings and operate more efficiently.
